Volunteer Circle | Become a Sakha / Sakhi

Give 3 Hours | Change Someone’s Week Forever!

At Accompany, we believe that no senior citizen should miss a temple visit, a kutcheri, or a sunrise by the beach just because there’s no one to go with!

Our Sakhas and Sakhis walk the talk every single day. But, loneliness doesn’t take off over weekends!

Invitation to join us as a Volunteer Sakha or Sakhi.

It's Your Opportunity To Pay Forward

  • 1. Because you remember what your own grandparents taught you. Patience. Stories. The joy of filter coffee shared in silence. This is your chance to give that back.
  • 2. Because 3 hours of your weekend is a week full of happiness and joy for someone else. One temple visit with you. One kutcheri they thought they’d never see again. That’s the impact.
  • 3. Because this is Sakha Dharma. In our epics, a Sakha or Sakhi showed up when the family couldn’t. They didn’t do it for money. They did it because that's what friends do.

Who Makes a Great Volunteer Sakha / Sakhi?

You do, if you are:

  • 1. Patient: You understand that “slow” is not “difficult”
  • 2. Present: You can put your phone away, and truly listen
  • 3. Kind: You believe every elderly person deserves dignity
  • 4. Free on weekends: Just 3-4 hours, once or twice a month

No medical background needed. We train you. We’re looking for a heart ❤️.

College students studying Social Work or part of NSS Community, Working Professionals, Medical Fraternity - Doctors, Nursing Staff, Physiotherapists, Staff supporting Geriatric Care, Homemakers, Retired Personnel from all Communities are welcome. If you are free on a Saturday morning or evening, you can be someone’s Sakha or Sakhi.

What Will You Do?

As a Volunteer Sakha or a Sakhi, you’ll be matched with a senior citizen near you for simple, joyful outings. It could be:

  • 1. Temple visits - a steady arm to hold on the steps, someone to share the prasadam
  • 2. Nature walks, morning sun, gentle conversation, no rush
  • 3. Sabha Kutcherys - because music is better when heard together
  • 4. Coffee Conversations - sometimes that’s all someone needs
  • 5. Movie or lunch or dinner date, play board games with them, shopping and much more

You choose what you want to do, how often you want to do, whenever you are free.

Sakha Dharma, Not Charity

This isn’t charity. It’s friendship.

You are not “helping the elderly.” Like the way Krishna showed up for Arjuna and Draupadi, you are either a Sakha or a Sakhi. You walk with them. Not for them.
